I have been hearing about him recently and I don't know what he stands for or why a lot of people are obsessing about him. What are some things that are "different" that he's saying compared with the other candidates?

Watch his recent interview with John Stossel on YouTube and you'll know Ron via his own statements.

Looks like His positions include:

1) Legalizing drugs (including heroin), gay marriage, and prostitution.

2) He wants to get rid of the following government departments:

Education, Energy, Housing, Agriculture, Commerce, and Homeland Security, etc.

3) He wants to remove all U.S. troops from foreign lands and have a foreign policy of non-interference.

According to him:
Saddam was right in invading Kuwait and could have annexed other oil rich countries. It's alright if China attacks Taiwan. It's fine if the Taliban and Al-Queda set up in Afghanistan. Genocide and ethnic-cleansing in other countries are not our concern.

Looks like Paul is radical in many of his positions. If interested, watch the interview and see for yourself. It consists of 6 brief vids and here's the first one.

He advocates a great many ideas the general public likes, but since he seems to be the only politician who advocates these great ideas, I doubt he could be an effective president. Too many of the others would be opposing him at every turn of events.
Plus, the big money people would be doing their level best to counteract him because his ideas would hurt their exorbitant profits.

While he is a strict libertarian his isolationist policies go beyond most libertarian advocates. He would have kept us out of world war II by not responding to the Japanese attacks so we would all be speaking German by now.

He just wants his few minutes of fame. He's making a mockery of the whole political process.

Check his numbers. He is basically unelectable. His ideas are lacking in both credibility and logic for that matter. It's down to Rudy, Mitt, or something less.
