Call the state agency that provides Medicaid in your state and let them know you are pregnant now. Don't wait until you have the baby. Ask them how to register your child. They will sign the unborn baby up (usually as "your last name, unborn" and after the baby is born, usually within 10 days, you will have to call them and let them know the baby's name. When you get the child's Social Security Number, you call and give them that info, and usually basic info such as whether or not the baby is living with you. The child (it may depend on the state you're in) should be covered for a year if you are still low income. You will probably need to reapply after that time, and if for some reason you don't get a notice in the mail by the babies 1st birthday, or a few weeks before, call and see when you are due to reapply, so you don't lose benefits. You don't want to lose benefits when the baby is due for a one year checkup and an expensive round of vaccinations. I work for the agency that provides Medicaid in my state, so that's the state I'm going by. Yours may be different.

yes it will cover the baby immediately after delivery, but to continue coverage you have to turn in paperwork from the hospital showing proof of birth and the social security number for the baby. Once you have the baby you will be covered as well until you no longer qualify for medicaid instead of it expiring when you finish college.

You'll have to ask if Medicaid will cover your child or not, or what you will have to do (and when) to get your child covered. Some states also have statewide programs to cover eligible children, which provide coverage instead of medicaid.
Oh, and if you haven't signed up for WIC yet, you need to do so if you are eligible.

Call the 800 # on your card and ask for specifics but I believe it will cover the baby for a period of time and then you can apply for the child and depending on your income it will be free or low cost

It relies upon on your earnings and your destiny husband's earnings. you need to be lined on your being pregnant till 2 months positioned up partum the two way and your babies would be lined except your destiny husband has coverage via his artwork. many times if uninsured discern's make too plenty the mummy and dad purely ought to pay a month-to-month top classification and copays for the babies, yet they keep the medicaid coverage.

Yes, it does until they are 1 year of age. Then the state will do a re-evaluation to check for eligibilty each year until the child turns 18 years old.

Usually, if you have a "qualifying child", you can get medicaid coverage so it should still cover you
