I just got a new battery installed yesterday, and the car would start fine and ran fine. I parked at KFC today and after a while when i tried to start it wont start. Just produced clicking sound, without any movement in the engine.
The battery didnt seem drained out at all. We even tried jumpstart, which otherwise with my old batter worked well. But, dont know why with the new battery it wont start.
I left the car there, and called AAA. The AAA guy came and said let me try, and when he tried, it started normally. He did nothing. Now I came home switched off the car, and tried to start again, and again it wont start. Dont know whats going on? I hope its nothing expensive or not a major problem? Can someone please help.
Thanks
Jigar

Did you clean the cable connectors when you installed the new battery. Connectors and posts build up an oxide which causes a bad connection. Remove the negative cable then the positive and wire brush or scrape the inside of the connectors with a knife blade until they are shiny bright. Do the same for the posts then reconnect first the positive cable then the negative cable. Many times that is the problem rather than the battery.

The clicking sound is probably the solenoid on the starter. It is clicking in but the contacts are not connecting in it,therefore not transferring the power to the starter windings.Sometimes cable connections look clean but won't allow enough power to go through to turn the starter.Clean the Black corrosion off terminale and cables before changing solenoid.

That clicking is either the starter relay or the starter solenoid.A clicking relay means everything AFTER it is suspect.....cables,starter,connections...
If its a clicking solenoid (on starter) you may have a starter thats got dead spots inside (works and then wont occasionally).Depending on the vehicle, you may have a corroded starter terminal wire at the solenoid thats barely making contact(gotta love those exposed flat spade terminals),or a nearly corroded away braided wire that connects the solenoid to the starter insides.

When the AAA guy comes back ,check out which side he pokes his tongue out ,if its to the left ,he is confident its going to start ,if to the right it means he is just gunna luck it .copy his face moments ,it will work for you also. You could also try wearing a short skirt & low cut top ,,worked for my ex wife ,the AAA guy can have her ,,the last i heard she couldnt afford new tyres ,but was easier to trade the car in & refinance for a new car... It could be it dosent like KFC

HI sounds like the connection at the battery... Pull the cables off at the battery. clean the post and the inside of the cable clamp.. these parts need to be shiny clean so there solid metal to metal contact or it won't work... it takes hardly any power to run the lights or radio..but takes 300 amps to turn the starter. good luck tim

theres two possible problems one is that the starter is going out i went through the same thing with my maxima the other is that there is a bad connection somewhere.... now this is assuming that the battery is charged and holds the charge after vehicle is turned off

Check the wires and then the starter itself. May be that the starter is failing.

You didn't tighten the battery cables enough when you changed the battery. Clean and tighten them.

Have you checked the alternator? It could also be the starter.
