Do you feel betrayed by the fact that it seems to take her so long to finish.

Not really, I was disappointed in the last two books. She got away from 'showing' and was strictly going by 'telling' which isn't as good writing as you want. Her first and second book are still the best in the series.

If you like historical (prehistoric and pre-Columbus era) fiction, check out the People series by Michael Gear and Kathleen O'Neal Gear. They're both paleantologists and research their backgrounds in their stories really well. It's a whole series that spans 10,000 years, and ALL the books refer back in some way to the first one which sets the historical background in place. It's the anchor stone to the entire history they've been fleshing out. The first covers the migration over the land bridge during the time of the mammoths.

I thought the first two were wonderful, but the last one was shallow and did not have the flow or awe of the others. I'd read another, but it has been a long time and would have to reread the first.

No, never have been dissapointed by that fact. I tend to not feel betrayed by people I don't even know.

I actually did not realize that there was more to come. Now that I do, yeah!

Loved the books/movie.

You try writing a 1200 page novel...then you'll be fit to judge her.
