Now, in my opinion, no book can top Gone With the Wind. No other author can capture the characters and style that Margaret Mitchell used. And finally, no one else can make us believe that character they call Scarlett O'Hara really is the strong-willed protagonist that Mitchell created.

I hated "Scarlett" by Alexandra Ripley. It mostly talks about the landscape instead of the people in the story. Margaret Mitchell captures the entire atmosphere so completely that you just can't make a sequel to it.
Gone With the Wind is a masterpiece and my favorite book! Nothing tops it!

I haven't read it, and it is not even on my reading list. I don't think you could top Gone With the Wind, and there was nothing more to add, as far as I was concerned. The mystery should stand as is. I prefer to let my imagination think about where Rhett and Scarlet went with their lives after the book ended, it is more romantic that way.

The book was horrible..........You can't choose another author, no matter how much Margaret Mitchell family selected the author, didn't make it a Gone With The Wind Book.

This is the first I have heard of a sequel, but if you were that disappointed ,then I probably will not see it.

Margaret Mitchell did not write a sequel for a reason...

I thought the story was OK....considering.
But the mini-series? Whoa! Completely miscast...
The woman who played Scarlett was ugly as a mud fence and the guy who played Rhett, while nice looking, didn't even come close to finding the character.

I didn't know there was a sequel. I remember hearing something about it years ago, but I never knew they did one.

Scarlett was awful. I won't buy the one about Rhett Butler new. I'll wait for the used book store or the library.
