One obvious way to spot the difference at a glance is to look at their waists. A bee is not very skinny but a wasp has a tiny waist (wasp waist, in fact).

They are in two different insect families and have different ways of life. Most common wasps live in hanging papery gray balls hanging in the air. Most bees live in hives that could be in hollow trees or in man-made wooden boxes.

Bests collect pollen from flowers while wasps usually bite into ripe fruit to get their juices.

Wasps can sting repeatedly with needle-like stingers. Bees have a stinger with a barb on its end so after one sting their stinging parts rip out of their abdomen and they die.

They are from different family of insects.

A bee feeds its larvae basically Pollens and nectar derived from plants.

A wasp feeds its larvae foods from insects (dead or alive).

But both ADULT bee and Wasp feeds on Nectar and Pollens.
A wasp has a distinct slim waist.

Another distinct feature (and a very painful one) is that when a bee stings, it will leave behind it's sting on the victim and the bee will eventually die, whereas as wasp could sting many time without leaving behind it's sting and has venom.

They're really not all that similar.

Bees live in hives with thousands of other bees.

Wasps live in nests with only a few offspring

Bees collect pollen, and make honey

Wasps are often predators, eating othjer insects

Bees are smallish

Wasps are long and stretched-out looking
