The best thing you could possibly do is check out the college profiles for which you are interested on collegeboard.com
Some of them will break it down by percentages and tell you how many students that were accepted had _ GPA. But just remember, colleges look at other things besides your grades. If you are strong with everything else, you will have a good shot!
And a 3.0 isn't bad. If you are truly worried about getting into college, try applying to community colleges as a back up, most of them have an open-admissions policy (meaning they accept everyone)! Good luck!

If you live in Texas, UT Austin is a possibility, and the other UTs are almost definites. NYU and U Chicago might be a stretch, but if you keep improving your grades (maybe you can take some summer classes?) you might have a chance for others such as Texas A&M and others. Depends on your area of interest such as science, humanities, social sciences etc. Don't limit yourself! Good luck, you sound terrific.

I teach high school. I tell my students to contact the admissions office of the colleges they are interested in...find out if the college is highly selective, selective, or open admissions. Grade point is only one criteria--strength of schedule and the SAT score carries a lot of weight. You will want to do your very best on your SAT score...if the colleges you are looking at require that test for admission. There are many prep books that are at your local library...or you can check out courses that specialize in SAT tutoring. Sometimes getting your foot in the door to one college (and doing very well)...then transferring the following year to the college you are most interested in is the way to go! Good Luck

Getting into college is not all grades: essays, SAT scores, activities and jobs all play into that stuff too. Also, just because the school is great overall does not mean that the department you are in is the best. You really need to look at what you are going to study and then choose a perspective college from there.

My gut is that NYU and University of Chicago will be high reaches for you. Keep up the good work/improvement and I"m sure you'll find a perfectly fine college that's a good fit for you.

You can get into The University of Texas At San Antonio regardless of High School Rank (relative GPA) as long as you get a minimum of 1020 on the SAT or 21 on the ACT.
If you rank in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd quarter of your high school class you can score lower on the SAT or ACT.

I can't answer specifically, but it seems likely that with a B average (especially if your so-so grades are in subjects unrelated to your intended area of study) and with good SAT scores, you should be able to get into most of those you list.
