Peasant life in ancient Egypt was not always pleasant. Most peasants made their living off the land through agricultural means. Grain, particularly wheat, was a staple crop of life in ancient Egypt. As a result of few grazing lands and the expense of meat, most peasants subsisted off a diet of ground wheat foods, subsidized with meager vegetables. The Egyptians were one of the first people to introduce the use of the ox-drawn plow; however the work of plowing, planting and harvesting would have still been very difficult. Taxes were also imposed on the crops, which would have also made it difficult for most peasant families to move beyond their poor means

Well idk about thorough but I will give it a go. The king wakes up only to find 20 young women ready to help him with his morning bath. After that he consult with his advisors on the issues that come in trying to run an empire. Issues such as food production, enemy invasion from the east, improving the quality of life in the capital. After getting done with the boring part of his day, our pharaoh start his morning breakfast. See, our pharaoh doesn't need to waste his time with these matters. He has advisors that do all the work he doesn't. His chief concern is money and his own personal happiness. Another meal in the afternoon. A walk in his great gardens in the evenning, and a feast at dinner time. Then he retires to his chambers to find his 29 young women ready to "help" him fall asleep. The pharaohs lived like gods because they were considered gods.

Do you have a Bible that has the Old Testament in it. Remember the story of Joseph whose father preferred him over all his brothers? To make a long story short, his brothers were so envious they sold him into slavery. There he and two of his friends were singled out to learn more about Egyptian customs. Good source of data.
Also, check out all the Davidic references.
Too, look up Moses who led the Jewish people out of Egyptian slavery.

They were very dedicated to the masters. if the master died then they would have to die too. They tended to the needs of the upper class and did whatever they were told too. so basically they were slaves.
