I was married for 18 years before the divorce. Was with my "significant other" for 3 years before we broke up. Would much rather have the significant other than the husband back.

What's the point? You have to be happy with who you're with more than how long you've been together.

I don't think so... You can be married or single and still feel horrible lonliness. You can married or single and still catch an STD (it is only slightly less of a chance with marriage...) You can be married or single and still get your heart shattered to bits....

HOWEVER.... you can be single and achieve happiness faster than being in a dead end or horrible marriage... that takes time to get out of.

If you are happy in the marriage and it's a healthy relationship then yes. Absolutely!! And you tend to feel safe with your husband/wife because they give you a feeling of security. It could be a wonderful thing. If you aren't happy then other actions need to be taken.
