Ok. I have booted in safe mode. I know the file said something like hgggggd.dll and its said it infected my empowering technology feature. Now that iam in safe mode, I formatted drive L which i was downloading stuff into when this all happened. now what? i still can't get into regular windows without the same problem happening.

If your antivirus is up to date, follow this procedure:

1) Reboot into safe mode (to get into safe mode, tap F8 repeatedly while Windows boots.
2) Once into safe mode, remove restore points. (right click on My Computer/properties/System Restore/"Turn off System Restore"/Apply/OK)
3)Run your antivirus software in safe mode.
Scan everything it will scan, and clean or delete anything it finds.
4) Reboot into regular mode
5) Go back as in Step 2, and turn restore points back on.

Good Luck!

Write down the exact infected file name. You might need to google a specific solution.

Try to close open programs with Ctrl-Alt-Delete. If that doesn't work, reboot and press the F8 key to Safe Boot.
If you Safe Boot with Networking, you will still have web access.

Use a simple program like Spybot Search and Destroy to remove the virus.

Download Avast! Anti Virus and Install it. It will then ask you if you want it to run a start up scan when you next reboot. Click next and restart the PC, Avast! will find it and clean it =D

Good Luck!
