I'm sure it will disappoint conspiracy theorists, but a quick google search indicates that a lot of powerful contemporary politicians aren't Masons, including Tony Blair, George Herbert Walker Bush, George Walker Bush, Dick Cheney, Bill Clinton, and Ronald Reagan. Moreover, no member of the US Supreme Court has been a Mason since 1992.

There is still a ban against Roman Catholics joining the Masons. Discounting the Eastern Star, which acts as a ladies' auxiliary, Masons also prohibit women from becoming members. Incidentally, Masonic membership in the United States has declined from 4.1 million in 1959 to 1.5 million today.

By the way, I'm not a member of Eastern Star, nor was my dad a Mason.

Simple answer to this is no. Not every person that has power is a freemason. Some people become powerful through fame and fortune and having a network of friends. The people are the ones that have the power, we outnumber those in charge of us dramatically.

No.

Freemasonry is a social fraternity that studies morality through ritual, symbol and allegory, its main tenets are faith, hope and charity.

ALL accusations of satan worship, etc.. are false, and have been proven false many times over. The stem from Leo Taxil --- see Taxil Hoax on wiki, or elsewhere --- who admitted he was playing a joke on Freemasonry. Still, even today, some mis-guided folks believe him.

to some other responses:

* Freemasonry is NOT from the devil

* masonicinfo.com is a great site; you can find responses to every anti-mason claim there

* there is no illuminati... none of the stuff you mention is because of the Freemasons, ugh...

Please ignore all the garbage about the Anti-Christ in the "Prince William" answer. I have read Revelations. None of that is Biblical.
My father was a Freemason, and he knew "everybody!" That's all I know.
