A ghost is said to be the apparition of a deceased person, frequently similar in appearance to that person, and usually encountered in places she or he frequented, or in association with the person's former belongings. The word "ghost" may also refer to the spirit or soul of a deceased person, or to any spirit or demon. Ghosts are often associated with hauntings, which is more or less regular occurrence of paranormal phenomena associated with a particular locality (especially a building) and usually attributed to the activities of a discarnate entity; the phenomena may include apparitions, poltergeist disturbances, cold drafts, sounds of footsteps and voices, and various odours.

Ghosts are said to be a manifestation of a dead person, some believe it be be the spirit or soul of the dead and others believe it to be the personality. People all over the world think differently when it comes to what ghost really are and if they really exist or are just part of the imagination. One of the earliest recorded sightings of a ghost happened in Athens Greece between 63-113CE when Pliny the Younger wrote a letter to Athenodoros Cananites who was a philosopher, about his sightings of a ghost. Ghost stories have continued throughout the years and many places are said to be haunted by ghosts.

I know that when someone dies, to prevent them from coming back, you rearrange the furniture so that the ghost will not recognize the room and leave. It freaks them out.

I don't know anything about them really, but I believe in them. If you go on YouTube and search for poltergeist videos there's some crazy scary stuff.
Also, I live in NJ and if you go on WeirdNJ's website, they have all kinds of similar stuff and stories. You should check 'em out.
