Yes, it usually matters, sometimes landlords will even want proof of your employment.
I don't know if they do this with rentals, but you might get someone to co-sign the lease which makes them responsible for rent if you don't pay.
Good luck with a job & an apt.

Money to pay rent with no job equals "questionable income sources" to a landlord.
Generally, most experienced landlords would not rent to you.
Even if you get a job tomorrow you do not have a stable job history.

I think you have to have a steady job, they look at all that stuff your credit and everything before they rent to you. Most places anyway, they are not going to rent to somebody who might not be able to pay their bills.

you need to make 3 times the amount of rent, so if the rent is $1000. mth you need to make $3000.
and you need steady employment, this will be checked if the rental agency is any good

I would not rent to you, but desperate landlords might. Very shady areas tend to be lax about this, since most of the tenants are drug dealers anyway.

You need to show an ability to pay your rent, if you can't do that then no, you can't rent an apt.

No, unless you get a really stupid new landlord that doesn't know what to look for.
