Seriously, I accidentally posted a question in another section and got like 3 answers, all worthless. But a good question on GWS will get 20+ answers in the first hour, even in the middle of the night!

Plus, there's some crazy mysogenists, some crazy feminazis, and many sane people who actually put real thought into their answers. The trolls have had me in tears a few times. That shark guy kills me. And Rio has so many points she's probably eligible for Y! stock options by now.

Do all the other sections suck (by comparison), or have I just not found the good ones yet?

There's a leaderboard? Shows what I know. I went to Singles & Dating and was appalled! All quesions, no answers. And it seemed like nothing but high school kids. Just worthless. Maybe the site isn't designed for that many questions, and GWS gets them at a better rate?

jonmcn49, the chemistry & homework, huh? Maybe "action" wasn't a precise enough term for a sciency guy like yourself. I meant GWS has a steady flow of interesting (to the lay people) questions and answers.

I'm still in shock from a chemistry nerd telling me I need to get around more ;)

jonmcn49, let me also add that I sincerely appreciate your answer. One of the great things about this section is the guarantee of a dissenting voice, and usually one with a valid point, like yours.

We do have a mixed bunch here, but most give very insightful answers to questions. And yes, the humor we get in here is unlike any other forum on Y/A...we're all a family- of sorts, here...for better or for worse....lol!

(Edit: just watch: someone's going to post a comment below this and say that we are NOT "family" and that I should have my head examined.) But that's what I love about G & WS!

And I can't wait to hear Jonmc's response to this...he'll be telling us something about the flight patterns and wind velocity of swallows carrying coconuts over King Arthur's castle. Because THAT'S "real science." lol!

When I first started on Y/A, I would answer questions all over the place. Then I found this category. I still explore other topics for the poops and giggles aspect of it...but I always end up back here sooner or later. Like a bad penny, really.

I love how there are always funny/humorous questions, really sweet ones (merry christmas, hugs, etc.), and generally several thought-provoking questions. It's really quite a dysfunctional little family here...(emphasis on fun). Even with the trolls...they are often good for a giggle. Of course there will be crazies at either extreme...like any good family.

All the other sections don't really suck...I haven't visited all of them yet. Some are better than others in terms of content, sure.

Some of the smartest, most sensitive people are here. It's actually a great place to ask questions about dating, for either gender. Even some of the women here that I consider to be misled in their feminism have better insights about other aspects of human nature (work, family, friends) than I'd find almost anywhere.
The religion sections have a lot more baiting and devil's advocate-oriented questions.

Ever been to Singles & Dating? They have new pages of questions up within five minutes. (Of course, those questions suck, but we're not talking about quality here.)

As for my point count, that's squat compared to the people on the main leaderboard. I might be doing well by GWS standards, but that isn't saying much. And trust me, if I was eligible for stock options, you'd know.

EDIT: Isn't it on the Y!A home page? Being an ex-regular of S&D, I know that it's not ALL questions; there used to be a group of us who answered each other's questions often and well. After we left, things started to go downhill.

The political section gets pretty hot, too. But the trolls are all over the place. The religion section has a lot of hot and heavy arguments, too, with the trolls baiting the Christians.

Ridiculous!! Come to the chemistry section when the spring semester starts, or homework help section.

This may be the lightest section on YA. BS has very little mass and no g/L density.

You need to get around!

Yeah. Politics is WAY more active....and just as crazy and "troll infested."
