my guess would be Poland b/c it's the most "westernized" country in eastern Europe. have fun passing the language barrier. any slavic language is difficult for a westerner to learn.

Burgas, Bulgaria. Its on the Black Sea about 100 miles north of Istanbul, Turkey (the gateway to the east). The western Black Sea of Bulgaria is a resort area of countries like Russia. Their culture more resembles ours than some other countries in that region. Bulgaria is now a part of the European Union and will likely grow at a rapid pace.

Ukraine is great, I had a wonderful time there. The language is easy to learn, although many folks speak English, specially in the cities.

Of course, Ukraine is in central Europe, not eastern Europe. The geographical center of Europe is in Ukraine, there is a marker near Khust. Russia is the only country in eastern Europe.
