Sun dog ia popular alternative for mock sun.In this phenomenon,a bright spot appears on either side of the sun.It is caused by sunlight refracting through ice crystals in the atmosphere.

a sun dog is seen because of refraction of sunlight with plate-like crystals in the atmosphere. They appear on either side of the sun, giving the illusion of 3 suns (the actual sun and then 1 to either side)
