The acetone that is sold in the drug stores is diluted and it takes forever to get your tips off. I go to a hardware store and buy a small tin of acetone--costs about $3.50 for 32 ounces. Pour about an inch in an old ceramic or glass dish and soak, soak, soak. Keep just your fingernail in the acetone. When you are done, set the bowl out in the garage and it will evaporate so you don't need to worry about what to do with the remaining solvent. .

Go to CVS and get the CVS brand professional nail polish remover, its 100% acetone (make sure it says so on the bottle). Pour some in a small dish and soak your nails in it, the nails should come off easily.

soak in acetone and buff the hell out of the after. I say go to the salon, pay the 10-20 dollars or so and let them do it.
