Pretty common. If you want you can leave your daughter the proceeds from a trust or a life tenancy if you want her to have the uses of something but not to own it.

Of course, You can do so by writing a will properly. You can also set up a generation skipping trust. There is no legal requirement to leave an inheritance to any family member. Have a lawyer advise you as to the best approach to accomplish what you want.
