I think many people experience conflict between want and should, the should being other's ideas about what one is supposed to do with one's life. But I think these shoulds are inhibitors rather than motivators. Typically they paralyze people rather than stirring them to action. If you do things because you feel you should do them you'll always just do the minimum, because with should the goal is approval, to make someone else happy or approve of you, not to accomplish the task at hand. It's impossible to feel passionate about doing something when you do it just becuase you think you should. Want is where the passion is.
For my own part I didn't used to know what I wanted. I was told that I had to think/feel certain ways otherwise I was a bad person. Now I know what I want but I am afraid of it. But at least I know. I'm one step closer to getting what I want. Now I have a very clear obstacle, fear.

Yes, I know what I want and I do pursue it. I do not question it and it does not conflict with any "should" because my life does not revolve around what society says "should" be. My want is very realistic and there is no one that seeks to divert me from that want. The only obstacles between me and my want are the ones in my head....seriously, I am usually the only obstacle for myself to overcome.

My want is a life free of domestic violence yet having a decent home to live in and a father for my children. To not have every move controlled like I am a prisoner. To feel free to pass by a yard sale and have a few dollars to spend on a knick knack without having to ask every time. My obstacle? My environment.

Sometimes I don't know what I want, other than basic necessities, food, shelter, and respect. I tend to self-sabotage alot which jeopardizes my wants. I guess I need to keep thinking more of myself and go for things that I would want to pursue without feeling selfish. I could talk myself out of anything. Which keeps me from doing alot. In the meantime I will keep reading on self improvement and the like. I think too much...

I want truth. Truth is a basic human necessity that cannot be obtained. Not just every one but every thing including my self diverts me from my want. The obstacle is my life itself. In order to obtain my want I must overcome life itself.

I think that I do whatever I want most of the time, but I am not out of control. I know in order to survive and be able to do what I want I also have to do some things I do not like. For example: do my school work.

My wants change everyday as I grow up and discover more about myself. And yes, when I want something, I do try my best to get it. I don't think my wants has ever conflicted with my shoulds. I would say my wants are pretty realistic.

I question it.
Why do I want this?
How will it improve my life?
Could I wait a month before pursuing it then still want it?
In the end I want something useful, something I need.

* I must focus.
* I want joy.
* I want love.
* I want abundance.
* I want prosperity.
* I want wealth.
* I want health.
* I want wellness.
* I want fitness.
As I focus on what I want, so it will be.
My obstacles.
* Doubt.
* Fear.
* Insecurity.
* Sadness.
* Anger.
These are my main ones but I am choosing joy over doubt. Courage over fear. Belief for insecurity. Happiness over sadness. Elation over anger.
This is an everyday process.
