floor(530/60) = 8 This is the hours. The floor function rounds down.
mod(530,60) = 50 This is the minutes. The mod function finds the remainder after division.
So divide the number of minutes by 60 using a remainder instead of a fraction. The whole number is the number of hours, the remainder is the number of minutes.
530/60 = 8 remainder 50

okay, so in this u must divide by 60, but not to a decimal, to a fraction. u say 530, 4 example:
530minutes/60 minutes per hour=
8 50/60 hours.
that is because when u put it into the calculator, u will get:
8.8333333333....
if u do not know this, .83333... is the decimal for 5/6 and 5/6=50/60.
u can also do this by looking at the 8, multiplying this by 60, to get 480, then doing 530-480=50, and thus the remainder is 50 and it must be over 60.
so, we have 8 50/60 hours, and since we know that 1min=1/60 hours, then 50/60 hours=50 minutes.
the answer is 8 hours 50 minutes.

One way:
= 530\60 hrs, mod(530/60) min
= 8 hrs, 50 minutes
Another way (segregate the fractional portion afterwards):
= 530/60 or 53/6
= 8 5/6 hrs
Change the fractional 5/6 to minutes by multiplying it to 60:
= 5/6 * 60
= 300/6 or 50
Combined they'd be: 8 hrs and 50 min

Easy math. 1 hour has 60 minutes, so divide minutes by 60 to get number of hours. The remainder is the number of minutes that do not make up a "whole" hour.
So, for 530 minutes, 8 * 60 = 480, leaving 50 minutes. So it is 8 hours and 50 minutes.
To convert decimals this is easy too: each tenth equals 6 minutes (60 minutes divided by 10)
0.1 hours = 6 minutes
0.2 hours = 12 minutes
0.3 hours = 18 minutes....etc

I'll make it very simple for you.
# of minutes to hours= divide by 60
put the decimal # of minutes over 60 ( 60 minutes in an hour)
so there you have it! nice and easy!
