Have we lost our minds as parents or is just parenting in modern times?

Parenting in modern times. It's a lot easier to text message than scream their name up the stairs and hope they answer before you go hoarse. It's like speaking their language, they see a text and are highly likely to respond. So assuming you have unlimited texting, why not?

Guilty! My husband, both my kids and myself all have cell phones with unlimited texting, and the kids and I take advantage of it as much as we can. I have even texted them while riding in the same car or while watching tv together. It's a good way to share secrets with only one person in the room too lol. I think part of it is being lazy but the biggest part is the fact that they can't turn the volume down enough on the radio or the TV to be able to hear me talk. This way I know they got my message lol.

I do it with my husband! Sometimes we will be in a restaurant and we do it there too. The funny thing is that is how I told him I loved him for the first time! No you have not lost your mind, how ever it seems more and more parents are turning to this as a form of communication with their children.

My daughter is just a baby, but I do text my husband when he's in the next room over. When I got my first cell phone, I used to text my brother, sister, mom, and step dad all the time. I was like a hermit, I never left my room... I had no reason to.

edit: it's good for convenience, but we aren't verbally communicating anymore which is the most important

Yea I have texted my mom while we are both in the house, or more than likely I just scream if I want something, she usually comes.
