I also agree with the resistor pack is out. You will find it beside the blower motor. It is held with to screws. Very simple to replace.

I htink you need to replace the blower switch as there is a variable resistor that controls the speeds. THe heat fro mthe heater takes its toll on radio lights and I bet the resistor gets strained as well.
I had the lowest setting not work on my 99 silverado... but since it was just the lower setting, i lived with it.
I had alot of little things going wrong on that truck after 125k but loved that chevy truck. The 4x4 selector worked sporaticly, the radio lights were burning out, and finually the reverse went out. I traded for an 04 silverado just recently with only 20k on it.
You can pull that bezel off the gauge cluster and that that switch out nad probably replace it on your own fairly cheap.
Those chevy trucks will be good to you, I think its worth fixing!

Replaced the switch and the pigtail twice, replace the blower motor 3 times, replaced the control head twice and the blower wires still get hot as hell?

the blower resistor is bad....or you may have a bad spot on the plug that connects to resistor.

i build the 4l60e transmissions and curiously like 2d band grow to be smoked out of the trans.those transmissions are primary for the three-4 clutches burning out and the solar shell and solar kit breaking.
