The answer needs to be based on the % of pedophiles in each group.
Everyone knows there are more people in the straight populace so it must be based on % within the group.

What part of what I said don't you understand?
We already know gays at the biggest exageration might be 10% of the popuation but as a percenage within their population it is reported the have a greater amount of pedophiles than pedophiles as a percentage within the the straight group.
If you can't grasp this don't answer.

I am not sure of what percentage of each population is a pedophile but the facts are thus. 60% of molestations are heterosexual in nature, ( meaning that they are performed by the opposite sex) 40% is homosexual in nature> ( meaning that it is performed on the same sex.) homosexual people are ( at most) 10% of the population, possibly less, . This leads to the conclusion that a portion of 10% or less of the population is responsible for 40% of the molestations.

I have heard this exact statistic.
I was interested how the "community" would try and worm out of it.
If people check into the gay population with a little depth they would withdraw their misguided support.

Most pedophiles are straight men.
Just to clarify, because this is probably what you are thinking -- that if a male pedophile is attracted to female children, he is straight, or if he is attracted to male children, he is gay.
what gender of children the pedophile is attracted to has NOTHING to do with his orientation -- he may be into adult women, and also like young boys. since the boys aren't pubescent, it is just a sick attraction on the pedophile's part but it doesn't affect his orientation.

I think this unusual paradigm might be due in part to the fact that we hear about so many priests involved in pedophilia with young boys. This might be an assumption, but I attribute this to two things:
1) Many gay men, to escape the shame or sexual awkwardness of being gay, will join the priesthood in order to preserve their sanctity or escape their sexual instincts
2) These incidents are media-publicized due to the abhorrent reality that pedophilia exists even in the priesthood. And as we all know, mediaplay is is a HUGE contributing factor to public perception.

The short answer is no. Straight relatives of the abused are the main culprits. This often goes unreported because it's all in the family.
Parents and other close relatives who have access are the worst offenders. Of course there are some gay relatives who abuse but the bulk is straight, usually male on female, however some women will abuse little boys as well.

The percentages shown are correct. .... Further, a child is more likely to be molested by "Uncle Larry" than a stranger or next-door neighbor. Most cases of pedophilia and child abuse show friends or close relatives to be the offender.

Actually in cases of pedophilia the gender of the child is often immaterial to the abuser. It's the age of the victim that attracts them, not the sex of the child.
