For instance, I can be reached pretty much 24/7 on my cell phone, and anytime I log into Myspace, people can see that I'm on, and if I update my status, then they can read that, too.

Only when it applies to my bosses being able to get ahold of me even when I'm on vacation.. other than that I'm not really bothered because most everything comes with a way to stay invisible (if online) or has an off switch ;-)
