I didnt start wearing maternity clothes until i was almost 6 months along. Until then, i just wore clothes a couple sizes larger than i normally would to accomodate my belly. I pretty much wore my regular jeans (some a couple sizes larger) and zipped them up, but left them un-buttoned and either put a rubberband through the button-hole and then around the button to make the waist a little strechier, or folder the button part under, it worked pretty good for me and i was never exactly petite before i was pregnant if you know what i mean. I always worried about clothes fitting too tight also, but it turned out fine, you'd know if it were too tight, it is kind of common sense. Maternity clothes sucked, i could never find anything that fit me right - especially maternity jeans. I found some really nice black stretchy slacks at Shopko, but that was as good as it got. For me, wearing maternity clothes just let the world know i was pregnant, cuz the clothes just give it away. So, in a way it was good, cuz wearing normal clothes with a big belly, people just thought i had gotten pretty fat.

6 weeks is early. I started wearing them around 13 weeks or so. Maternity clothes are expensive, and you grow out of them. It is ok to have your pants on your belly. In the mean time I would try a belly band. It is an elastic band that you wear over the waist of your pants and you can keep your pants unbuttoned and nobody will know..genious. It costs about $10-$15.

Hi there! First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am about 9 weeks pregnant and have been in maternity clothes since 5 weeks. Everyone's bodies develop so differently during pregnancy. Don't let anyone tell you it's too early or make you feel uncomfortable with your decision. If you need new clothes mine as well go for the maternity clothes. They are super comfy and what really matters is that you are comfortable! Good luck!

Just go ahead and wear the maternity pants while you can...they are more comfortable around the waist anyhow. I wouldn't be wearing the tight pants because it is uncomfortable and your little one is inside there. Just be comfortable as possible. The first 3 months are the most risky...so take every precaution you can.

Do you not have any looser pants? I think the maternity pants won't stay up well, you you might want to get a few pairs of pants with a stretchy waistband until you are bigger for maternity clothes. I'm 9 weeks and I'm making do with my stretchy waist pants for now.

You don't need to wear maternity clothes. But definately don't try to fit in your old clothes if they're too tight. I'm also 6 weeks along, and just wear a lot of pj pants UNLESS I leave the house. With my first pregnancy I wore a couple maternity pants, and I HATED them, they never fit me right. But try whatever makes you look, and feel GOOD!!!

six weeks is a little early. I tried to get a pair of black stretchy waistline or drawstring pants to wear. ( they will be great when you are loosing the prego weight too) I picked up maturnity shirts around 20 weeks and I was able to wear bigger pants until about 25 weeks. Since I am prego during winter I was able to pull off wearing alot of sweatshirts and my hubbies long sleeve shirts so I didnt have to invest that much in clothing. I would say since you will be the biggest in summer you might want to save your money for a summer wear and look for some clearence pants that are bigger in the waist right now.

Wow. Im at 16 weeks and still comfortably in my jeans. I feel for you. While i don't believe that wearing tight clothes will hurt your unborn baby .. why not be comfy? Wear what you want hon! I hate maternity clothes so when the time comes ill be wearing Daddy's sweats around home. Good luck!

Your uterus does nto even begin to rise out of the peliv cavity until week 12. It won't hurt the baby. I would say go get at least some stretchy pants though. I don;t mean that you cant be getting "thick" around the middle so soon-your uterus IS growing adn other organs will begin to be poushed out of the way as well as your body preparing for pregnancy in other ways. I had to wear stretchy pants at 8 weeks with my third even though I didnt get very big at all ( I was 8 months and neighbors still werent sure enough to ask if I was or not LOL).
