The chainsaw uses a gas/oil mix to run the engine, which seems to run okay, but it also a separate compartment to store the chain oil, but it appears that the chain is not oiling, causing the chainsaw not to work, or saw properly and overheat the chain and chain bar.

The separate compartment that stores the oil, the oil level is always full, and never decreases in volume when I run the chainsaw.

the first thing i would do is take the cover off that holds the bar and chain on and there is a small oil hole that will should be postioned riight above the 2 steel studs. it may have gotten clogged up with saw dust. and all you need to do then is to clean that side of the saw real good making sure its clear and then test to see if oil comes out. by leaving the bar and chain off and starting it and if that was whats wrong with it should push oil out that hole.

There is a small pump in the chain oil tank that is driven by the same shaft that drives the chain. First you could check that the hole at the base of the chain is clean as it could be plugged and not allowing the oil to come out and if it looks good you will have to work your way back to the pump cleaning as you go but this takes some disassembling of the chain saw.

Would the area that contains the seperate oil be full? It will use up the oil real fast. If it is full and then you will need to flush it out and service the chain saw.

insure there is oil in the reservoir and give it a good cleaning
