Minerals have chemical names because minerals are simply chemicals or many chemicals put together. For example, common table salt is composed of chemicals NaCl (or sodium chloride). Two chemicals or natural elements put together( Na [sodium] and Cl [chloride]).

Because it helps scientists to figure out what is being talked about in a standard language. It avoids confusion.

Salt is a perfect example of this. You are thinking table salt, which is sodium chloride. But someone else may be thinking of potassium chloride, which is also a "salt." Both are mineral compounds, yet we need to make a distinction so that people don't mix things up.

Because they are chemicals. Iron, sulfur, potassium, copper, aluminum, etc are all chemicals. Everything is made up of chemicals. Chemicals are not just liquid.
