Next month I'm supposed to be going to a Birthday Vigil of the late singer, Aaliyah, @ her resting place in New York. The cost is approximately $800, including airfare, hotel, local travel, & meals. Or do you think I should do a personal vigil @ home here in Texas, where I can just buy a small cake, light a candle, & play her music videos? That's basically what the fans doing @ the NY vigil, except they'll also have a prayer & religious ceremony. She's my favorite singer, & I REALLY want to go on this trip, but I don't think I can really afford it financially. Or I might be just BARELY making it, cutting it close. There are people traveling WAY from Ireland & the UK, JUST to come to this vigil!

I need to save up $1,500 for moving expenses to California in June. Do you think I should treat myself to a vacation or just save my money? I usually stay @ home & don't leave the house unless I'm going to school, the store, or the doctor. I've had a rough time & been very depressed.

I posted this in the CELEBRITIES section, but everyone kept gossipping about Miley Cyrus, Nick Jonas, Vanessa Hudgens, & Britney & Jamie Lynn. Aaaarrrrrggggghhhhh! Some of these 9 & 10 year olds need to get off of here.

Knowing about Aaliyah and her spirit, she wouldn't want for you to spend excessive monies that you can't afford right now. However, she is worth your time and effort. Now, if next year, you decide to go to some affair or another birthday vigil of hers, then you will have saved the money. Don't stress yourself out. I wish you well. Peace, Love and God Bless.

Well if I were you I would save my money just because the economy in the USA is not that good and you always need to plan for the future. You should just do your own little vigil at your house and invite people that like to listen to her same music. Anyways you should save ur money cuz is it really worth it? and it is lots of money.....so If I were you I would save it for more important things and besides you can alwyas go out with sum friends to the club or da mall or to the movies and have a good time without having to waste so much money!

Sorry sweetie, This is something you need to answer for yourself. Have a nice inexpensive vigil at home for her. It's a nice cause and everything but your obviously not in the vacationing mood! Maybe next year when you've setteled in at Cali. Save up enough money to move then once you've done that put it away and treat yourself to a relaxing vacation!
Have a blast in Cali.
Good Luck and God Bless!

Better to take care of your finances then spend the money. First of all, you need it for a move. And second of all, though I don't know much about Aaliyah it is my understanding that she was deeply involved in charity activities, I am sure she would understand you doing a private vigil rather then not being able to afford things you need.

If you don't go you will probably regret it. New York is a very busy city. I would not like it because I don't like a lot of crowded areas. I am sure there will be a lot of people there. Is anyone going with you?

It is up to you. I do not know who she was, but I give my condolences to her family and friends and fans.

Best wishes to you and the New Year with all of the changes you are making in your life.

Look at everything. You said you do need to save quite a bit of $$. but you REALLY want to go. $800 is actually a pretty good deal, but look to see if you've saved enouht for moving and then check it out.

Have your own private vigil. You will be glad you did. You can do little things to make yourself feel better for a whole lot less than $800.00.

If you can't afford it you shouldn't go. Save your money and have a vigil for her at home.
