My suggestion is Folly Beach, SC. Stay at the Holiday Inn. The beach isn't crowded at all. Then you can walk to Charleston, SC., and take carriage rides and see all kinds of cool sites and stores and pubs. They also have things like a walk through a graveyard at night and they tell scary stories. It's the best place I've ever been to.

Depending on what type of person you are I would recommend Yellowstone. It's gorgeous! The leaves will be changing colors in the fall, and it will be easier to actually spot the wildlife with the foliage thinning out. Also, it won't be as cold as you think due to the lack of humidity. If all else fails and you have an unlimited budget just go to Australia. If you see a platypus, please e-mail me pictures! ^.^
