do you know of/if anyone is studying a correlation between the rise in police tv shows like csi and a rise in crimes not solved? I assume that there would be a higher" success " rate of premeditated crimes. your thoughts?

From what I have heard, the biggest problem with popular shows like CSI is that juries now expect better evidence, "just like on TV." Juries expect forensic proof and when they are asked to rely only on circumstantial and testimonial evidence they sometimes wonder why the forensics weren't presented.
TV has created these false, high expectations of what evidence is available, so juries might think that when such "super evidence" isn't presented, there must be a reason....like maybe the guy is innocent.

I dont think these shows help criminals to commit crimes better but I do think that some criminals may be getting a little smarter and more careful. You have to remember that these are TV shows and all of this technical ability is not always available in every town. Since many departments have cut back on the number of policemen due to budget cuts, they dont have the time to spend trying to solve every crime.

Criminals are not stupid, they know that if they want to get away with a crime, they have to plan it out and execute it perfectly.

its fistion, not fact, so I don't think it would matter. Cops is on TV from the same city's all the time and we still have no shortage of people to chase or pull over.
