okay, my cat is a hunter. he brought me a mouse with a neck wound. He was still alive and twitching. I picked him up, using a paper towel. i called the vet and dabbed cotten on his wound. I put him in a box.

he was twitching but couldn't get up.

i called my mom, who said the most humane thing to do was give him to the cat. he was suffering too much. I did so, but all the cat did was play with him.

suddenly he squeaked. it broke my heart, and I knew what to do. I asked my dad to end his pain. He was dieing, and suffering so much....I knew he was in shock and probably had several broken bones...

did I do the right thing?

Yes there is nothing you could have done except live him there and that would have slow and pain. Now he is in heaven pain free.

I do not think that you should have given him to the cat. Although this is a cats nature(to catch mice), by letting him know that it is unacceptable we can train them not to do this. By giving him the mouse, this is like saying that it would be OK for him to do it again. However, by stopping his suffering I think that you did the right thing!

Yes you did the right thing. Putting an animal out of its misurey and pain is hard but the right thing to do.

Yes, you did.

Domestic cats never kill for food; just for "presents" so next time you get brought something I'd kill it outright rather than give it back to the cat.

By putting it out its misery you did the right thing.
Try not to get upset about it:)

remember only humans feel guilt or compassion. cats are hunters and he was bringing you a present of thanks..like thanks for taking care of me.
