In 1996, Gretzky graduated with a psychology degree from the University of Alberta in Edmonton
To respond to some of the queries
Peter Pocklington made sure that his players were educated, and players such as Kevin Lowe, Wayne Gretzky, and Paul Coffey were part-time students at the University of Alberta while playing in Edmonton, all graduated in the 90s.
Gretzky hs several honorary degrees as well.
Others like Pat Quinn (law degree - U Penn), Paul Holmgren (MBA - Wharton), and Stu Grimson (law degree) have completed advanced degrees during their playing days.
The Guelph Platers/Guelph Storm have an arrangment with the University of Guelph which allows their players to takje University courses for credit while playing for the Storm. Past players such as Gary Roberts, Kirk Muller, the late Steve Chiasson, and Rob Zamuner all took courses there.

He did recieve a degree from the University of Alberta. However it was an honorary degree for his work in hockey. He recieved an honorary doctorate degree. He however did not attend college.

I dont think he went to college. He signed a professional contract with the Indianapolis Racers of the World Hockey Association (WHA) in May 1978, four months before his 18th birthday.

Didn't go to college back when he was 18 or 19yrs old. (He may have gotten a diploma eventually many years later)
