No, my love, time is not a river,
Flowing inexorably to its terminus,
Time is eternal, moving in all directions,
Standing still in an endless moment of pulsating joy,
Lying motionless in an eternal momement of despair.
Moving backwards towards the distant past.

I have traveled through space
On the light of a star,
I have lived on Pangea,
Felt the land tremble and the continents
Tilt and separate,
Seen the ranging waters
Tearing the land apart
And the endless seas
Freezing and melting and covering the land.

I have seen fire and ice
As the great volcanoes built the mountains
And tore them down again,
And I have felt the heat of the sun
And the days growing long and cold.

I have left my footprints
In the dust of the Moon
And I have roved
Through the orange deserts
Of our sister planet.

And now I wish I believed
In that eternal, timeless moment,
When together, you and I
Will hold each other once again,
And laugh with joy at time and rivers.

A single photon created at the moment of the big bang has traveled 13 billion light years to arrive here today and yet it has aged not one millisecond. Time like poetry is entirely a product of consciousness.

I thought it was really good. Not the ordinary settings for poetry, and it told a good story with color and some deep thought in it.
