Ok I'm 18.
My dad is 53 going on 54. His mom is still alive. Shes going on..80! His dad died when I was like 2 or 3, 1992ish, 1993ish.
My mom isn't as old as my dad, shes 44 going on 45 less than a month. Her mom is about 73 & living strong. She has survived breast cancer twice. Her dad died July 7th, 2003. He was 77. He had heart troubles for a long time. I miss him dear. He was my favorite, now his wife is (my favorite). I know I shouldn't choose grandparents. I can't really stand my dad's mother. Neither can the rest of the family. She has been very mean to us.

I'm not really considered a senior yet. I still have both of my parents living, but my dad's health is declining rapidly and he may not be here for his 70th birthday. Both my parents are only 69 years young. Longevity does not seem to run in either side of the family. I did have a great aunt who lived into her 90's and was never married... maybe that's the key! lol You and your mother are lucky people in my book!

My parents died in the 1980's when I was still in my thirties. I was the baby of the family by almost 20 years. So, I have been an orphan for a very long time. I am 63.

Mother passed away in 1977. My father will be 96 on Valentine's Day. He is in frail health, as would be expected, but he still has his quick wit and charm. My stepmother will be 86 on Feb. 17th. They have had a good life together for many years and I am thankful that they are still here.

Dad passed away in 2002, mom in 2005, father in 2007 (yes there's a difference). Guess I'm officially an orphan.

I am not as old as some of the others on this site but my mother (age 70) is still alive and kicking and very active. My father (72) died last January from early onset dementia.

My mother is still living, and on her own. My father passed on 3 years ago. My mother's father died 2 years ago at the ripe old age of 102, still independent (a farmer until he was 98), and that is my aim.

I think they probably have your best interests at heart, but may have gone too far in some things. I definitely understand why you wanted to go to the suicide fundraiser. Your parents may be worried about you after that and might be concerned it would not be good for you. They may be over-protective, but I think they do love you, otherwise they would let you do whatever you want. Try opening communications on the whys, but don't get mad. They are obviously concerned about you and are trying to protect you. Trust needs to be built up between you and them.

I'm 55 and my parents are 83 and 81. Mom has Alzheimer's, so we are trying our best to appreciate the time we have with her. My dad is a powerhouse -- never stops going. His father was 95 when he died, and I expect Dad to be around that long. And still bossing everyone around!

If she's 'pushing' 90- tell her to stop- she needs all the rest she can get.
My mom is still alive, she's 70 and walks 6 miles everyday.
My dad died of colon cancer in 1997. He was only 62.
