In the UK we have a much more relaxed view of life.......
Drinking is part of our culture - going to the pub to get smashed is looked up to not frowed upon.
In Scotland drinking is mandatory!!!
Sex at 16 is perfectly fine.
Religion is generally ignored.
Bible bashers are usually ridiculed.
I'd like your comments seeing as we have a lower crime rate and much much less gun crime than yourselves.
I wonder whether the US's problems are due to it's over conservative atmosphere and fierce patriotism.

Stop being focused on being BIG and start having a bit of humility, a bit of character. YOU ARE SO BORING.

Do you know why??? Because not one in the world is impressed anymore you're becoming a parody of yourselves the classic American bore droning on about the American dream and apply pie......zzzzzzz, The only people that care about you is yourselves. LARRY R - I LOVE YOUR PASSION!. Regardless of our differing views it's nice to see somebody really getting into the argument. Also I am not 'rooting' for China to take down the US. I merely stated that 'every dog has it's day' that is not the same as saying down with the US!! Britain WILL NOT make a 'comeback' as it's been there,, done that and got the T-Shirt!! and to be honest who would want a 'comeback' unless the thought of the slave trade and taking over other peoples countries excites you - Oh I nearly forgot then you're American!! so it probably does!!No hard feelings though I love the debate, it's just a shame you aren't more into Brit culture otherwise we'd be sinking pints in a local pub debating this 'till the end of the world .
The only time in history the UK went a bit iffy (slang for down the pan) was the 1970's - we were virtually wiped out then. To call the country that led the industrial revolution 'socialist' is frankly laughable!!

LAWRENCE MATE!! You don't have passion like Larry you just write cheap comments.
LOOK MATE, I'm actually LIVING in this community. My local shop is ran by Indians, My bus driver is Polish, I eat out at Chinese restaurants, My boss is Italian, My Girlfriend is Half-Iranian (oooh that must upset you!!!) and where I do most of my shopping (Tesco) was founded by an immigrant jew (Jack Cohen). SO WHATS YOUR PROBLEM??? Stop being afraid and get out into the big wide world and you'll learn that theres millions of lovely people out there from ALL the different countries across the world. BUY YOURSELF A MAP!!! is my advice.
TO live a life and not experience different cultures and viewpoints is very depressing. As said, these people all live in harmony together.

But I'm not in the class of no class people you directed your attention to.

I think that the lower crime rate in Europe is due to the high value Europeans place on tradition. You say that drinking is part of your culture but what you mean is that the older generations have forced it's opinions upon the younger generations. Your traditions are so pervasion that it must seem like you were born to drink at a pub.
I read that European tradition has the grown children eventually returning to their hometown to settle down. The tradition bond is thereby maintained. But in the US, we expect the children to move away.
The US doesn't have much in the way of traditions.

Is there any question here as to why America is not just a super power, but rather a SUPER DUPER power compaired to the UK???
Just re-read your own question and then take your teenager to the pub for some good ole' fashion acceptable intoxication and underaged sex for we in America have to keep the rest of the world tolerable through our blood, sweat, and finances...
With that being said, we do have a significant population of losers of the non-productive persuasion that you can have before they drag us down into our own National Cess Pool.

Not on a global scale when compared to France. However, the UK does have a "french" element to it. And I agree with the others that's why it will become part of Eurabia.
Its funny that you criticise us for being, well, English. The ideas on which our country is based are all from British thinkers during your civil war in the 1600's. One of those idea's is the indisputable right of self defense. And according to John Locke (I think a Scot) the right of self defense is imaginary unless it includes the right to bear arms.
Maybe you should learn to speak french and move there.

I think the UK is a great place wonderful country with a rich history. Of course I am a Conservative who doesn't believe in god, unlike your idiotic generalization.
What I find most interesting about your crime statement, is that in the ten years since you took guns away from your citizens the rate of violent crimes and gun crimes has risen exponentially.

Ahem, Joe, it's called "cesspool". If you were a native english speaker you would have known that. Now be a good lad and try to get over our revolutionary war. We have. I suppose sex at 13 is OK, too, but we try to keep away from our sisters and any farm animals. That should be your goal, also. It's easier if you're sober.

sYes.
My Mom and my wife and my in-laws are all English, and I've spent some time there.
Don't have a problem with the drinking thing. In fact I like that. As my wife said "the excitement and romance of teenage drinking looses something when your grandmother teaches you how to make a G&T at 12." Makes it a lot harder for the kids to get into trouble with booze later.
You have lower gun crime because as SUBJECTS of the Crown you are not free to own firearms. Instead your soccer hooligans, yob, and chavs use clubs and sticks and knives. You also have cameras on every street corner. Your government has taken 1984 and turned it from a warning into an instruction manual.
I see three things America has that you don't. The Protestant Work Ethic, and it's corollaries, social mobility and hope.
Unless you pass your A-Levels, if you are a young person in the UK you can pretty much pack it in, as far as having a non-dole oriented life. This is the cause of so much pain and tragedy. You have yobs and chavs and entire classes of people who are simply written off by society because they were born on the wrong side of London. How moral is that?
Your society give up on them, and then encourages them to give up on themselves. That's a lousy way to treat a being that is made in the image and likeness of God.
My father in law was an Eastender. Came from Dagnam. Was told at 16 that he was "dirty and plenty" and to give up on ever being anything in life. Because of the opportunity here, he was able to send all 3 of his kids to college and retire in comfort. Back home he would have been on the dole in Dagnam... those sorts of opportunities just aren't available in the UK. How did he do it? He busted his behind to become an aeronautical engineer and came over here to Houston to work on a little thing we Americans did back in the 1960s called the APOLLO MOON MISSIONS. (Quick question...how many Union Jacks are on the Moon? Clue: I can count them on the fingers of one foot.)
You ask why this matters... it is a fine example of the UK's moral and spiritual decline and how that translated into economic and military decline. You say we "wasted" the money we spent on the space program... well unlike the UK we had the money in the first place.
More importantly though, we had the spirit and the will and the faith to achieve...something the UK once had but walked away from as part of your post-Christian morality. Who was the first (and to my knowledge ONLY) Brit into space? Helen Sharmun, a clerk who rode a Russian rocket because she won a contest sponsored by the MARS candy company... a company which is headquartered in VIRGINIA USA.
The land of Churchill and Shakespear and Henry Tudor no longer produces heros. What is the greatest achivement of Post-WW2 Britian? What has the land of Robert Clive, Winston Churchill, Horatio Nelson, and Sir Francis Drake given us lately? ... The Beatles and the Rolling Stones. You have gone from The Duke of Wellington and the Duke of Marlbrough to John, Paul, George, and Ringo.
That's why the space program is important... you don't have astronaut heros... because you don't have ANY heros! Who is the UK's greatest hero? David Beckahm, who's greatest accomplishments are A) that when he is not injured he is really really good at a kids game, B) He married a Posh Spice, C) Like every other sucessful Brit he has moved to Los Angeles. Bit of a decline from "once more into the breach" and "Victoria and the Empire"
You kill people's spirit with your class ridden, nanny state, socialist economy and its two tier medical care system (poor people wait years for National Health to get around to bothering to help them, rich people get their own doctor or fly to the USA) . But that's not the worst of it... those things may take people's hope for a better life here.. it is your ignoring religion and ridiculing believers that takes people's hope and kills their souls.
But if you couple an economy where your opportunities are limited by both a massive bureaucracy and a class oriented educational system with the materialistic view of life that comes from living the post-Christian UK lifestyle and it is only natural that you wind up being a cesspit of despair. You can't get a good job without a good education, you can't get into the really good schools unless you come from the right family, and if you don't think there is anything to life besides material comforts... well then the LOGICAL thing to do would be to become a nihilistic hedonist...you really don' t have a whole lot of hope. You teach people that the only thing that matters is the State and "society", and then the State and "society" write them off. No wonder you have such problems with kids under Supervision Orders and "brain drain".
Christianity teaches that all people are of value, that they are made in the image and likeness of God. (This is where that "all men are created equal" thing comes from... you may have heard of it...it is quite the rage over here.) God loves you regardless of how well you do in school, or how much money you make. Christianity teaches that there is more to life...MORE TO YOU than what you wear, what you buy, what your address is, or how many people you use for sex. Christianity teaches that all people have value, BEYOND what they can economically produce.
Christianity teaches that people have value, in and of themselves.
Christianity teaches people that there are ways to happiness that do not involve condoms or gin.
Christianity gives people faith and HOPE.
So in so far that you do not teach people those things, I think it ovbvious that you are a moral cesspit, because your society treats people like the sort of stuff one throws into a cesspit.
P.S. I notice that your response to this is NOT that the UK will make a comeback someday, its not even a hope that the EU might amount to something. You say you are rooting for China, to take down the US! How would China becoming the dominant world power help the UK?
You don't express hope for a better future for your country. You don't express hope for a better future for your continent. . Nothing positive, nothing constructive; not even a "just you wait, we'll be back"....just an nasty nihilistic snarl born of cynical disbelief and envy. Exactly what I was talking about. I think this proves my point quite nicely. Thank you very much.
