I'm not sure what you are asking. Are you trying to find out what the total now is? Are you asking if colleges will consider all three parts of the exam or only the original two? Are you asking for a debate on whether the old or new version of the exam is better?

The fact is that the exam is now based on a 2400-point scale, made up of three parts. A lot of schools still don't pay too much attention to the writing portion of the exam, but that is likely to change in the near future. That doesn't mean that it doesn't matter. If you did well on the other portions of the exam, but had a catastrophically-low score on the writing portion, it may give the university pause, and if the university is very competitive, it could be the factor which could cause you to lose out against someone with a better score on that section.

Um, I don't understand the question. Are you asking if a perfect score will make you a shoo-in to college? Is the 1600 out of 2400 or 1600?

SAT scores are not the end of all deciding factors. Lots of kids with perfect scores get rejected from Harvard, Yale, Stanford, etc.
