When I was growing up, my dad (my parents divorced), took my brother and I, during the Easter vacation, to a old hotel called the Hotel Del Coronado (near San Diego, Calif.) I don't remember anything happening to us, but I have heard that it is haunted. It is a beautiful hotel near the ocean. When we went, the weather wasn't very warm and we couldn't enjoy the ocean...

We stayed at the Hotel Villa Convento in the french quarter, New Orleans. It is rumored to be the house of the rising sun, a very old, famous brothel in New Orleans.
The morning we were to check out, my husband was in the bathroom while I was sitting in bed. I heard a knock on the door and went to go see who it was. When I opened the door, no one was there.
I went down to the front desk and asked them if they needed anything from us and they said no. So I asked, "well, someone just knocked on the door and then left so I was wondering if it was one of you guys and if you needed something?"
The front desk guy smiled and said, "Oh, you must have gotten a visit from the Madame."
"The Madame?" I asked.
"Yeah. They say this place used to be The House of The Rising Sun. Do you know that song?"
"Yes. It's about a whore house, but it's just a song." I said.
"It's not just a song. There really was a place called the house of the rising sun in New Orleans and they think this used to be that place. Sometimes the Madame goes around on the days when people are checking out and reminds them with a little knock," he explained.
Whether this was true or not, I don't know but someone did knock on our door that morning.
On a side note, if you're going to New Orleans, the Hotel Villa Convento is a great place to stay and is very conveniently located in the Quarter making literally everything you could want to do within walking distance. I highly recommend it to anyone going there.
Peace,
Jenn

I believe you are referring to Jamestown Northern California. I worked in a Saloon that was haunted in Folsom, which is also N. Calif.
There were many areas in Germany that were haunted. It was such an eerie feeling just being in those places, it was enough to made the hair on the back of your neck stand up!

That would be quite interesting! I will put that on my list of ghost towns to visit. As for haunted places, my house is not haunted, but we have seen and felt several strange things here and in other places we have lived. Nothing evil, just strange.
BTW... I have a great uncle who was killed in a cave in in that area during the gold rush days.

Not actually stayed in one, but I have been in a bed and breakfast that is haunted. There is SOMETHING there, at any rate. It was the subject of an episode on a local TV news program this past Hallowe'en when ghost hunters went there. There are several other spots in our corner of the state that are reputed to be haunted. See below:

The Tri-State Historical and Mineral Museum is said to be haunted, also., in Joplin, MO. The curators, who are educated, pragmatic men, have both seen the "ghost" a numnber of times.

Jamestown, Rough and Ready and a host of others in the Gold Country too. Never stayed in one but there is a hotel with a bar in one of them that people order drinks and when they go to reach for it is gone or is at the end of the bar and no one moved it. Or you will have an empty drink go to order another one and the first is full again.
