I'm good when i'm by myself (around 70%), but in the game I'm shooting around 30% (yikes I know.)
What can I do.
My routine is:
I get the ball position my feet (right foot a little over from the dot towards the right)
I take a deep breathe
Spin the ball in my hands
Take two dribbles
Spin the ball until I get my hand over the treads.
Then shoot
I seem to miss either right over short.
What can I do?
I'm a pretty good shooter. I'm shooting just under 50% from the three point line and I attempt 2-4 a game.
Also the ball seems to slip sometimes.

You're thinking too much at the line...just go up there and imagine that you're a moron, don't think about the shot, and you'll start shooting 80% or better (actually, there is more to my seeming facetious answer than most know...the great coach Al McGuire, who won a national championship at Marquette, said he didn't like to recruit players who were too smart because they were more easily distracted...he said players with fewer smarts were more capable of "tunnel vision" on the court, and thus were better players...if you look at the NBA today, it is pretty damn easy to see that there aren't many rocket scientists on the rosters, if you know what I mean)

put ur right foot on the middle of the line take 3 dribbles
pretend ur shooting at the ground it will give u 3 practice shots almost
bend ur knees and shoot
i make like 70% in game with that
spinning the ball messes me up cause ur flicking ur wrist in the other direction

I would acutally recommend the Shawn Marion technique. He usually is a good FT shooter,w/excepetion to the this year...he reaches for the hoop when shooting FTs. Just try to vision the ball going in. THats my technique and I make probably 85 percent of the time. THeres no one way,so i would keep testing and testing and once you get into a good trend, keep it.
