Dont think of it as "becoming a dog", but as Diogenes of Sinope describes, with no hypocrisy or artificiality, getting rid of social values.

I think social values make us evil, since they force us to be what we are not. Just think about this; why is sex (or making love, or expressing love) so disgusting in public? Why is nudity a taboo? We all do sex and we all have breasts, and vaginas and penises. As Diogenes said, it is all a hypocrisy.

Megalomania: I agree slightly. It is easier to live as a human but only with political values, not with moral values. Moral values go against nature. We dont need them, since they repress our nature and makes us delinquents

Old dog: Yes, that is true, but that is natural behavior. Besides, we suffer the same but at a different level. In our "society", the alpha dog would be the rich man, the one that gets better health care, a better house, a better meal. The poor (or not that poor) man, gets to be the last in the heart transplant list, gets to work harder for less money, and eats cheaper and more unhealthy. We have the same hierarchy, but at a different dimension.

I forgot, Diogenes actually lived his life like a "dog".

When I say as a dog, I mean figuratively. Can you imagine the "human world" without morals?

Dogs are actually highly social so there is much irony in your question. I think its actually easier to escape society's clutchs as a human - it takes discipline but its possible. I'd rather be a human and live free of what Bob Dylan calls 'society's pliars'.

Nope. Do you have any idea what goes on in a pack situation?
It is as political as Washington is. Only the alpha dogs will kill for food and will kill the omega that's out of line or the beta dog looking to take it's place.
In a pack, a dog that does not contribute to the pack will be forced out, a wounded dog is as good as dead. There is no mercy in a pack of dogs. Only a dog mentality. A pack mentality if you will.
Diogenes must have known this in his observations. I don't know why he would have brought this up to a man's level.

BOOFUS is snoozing on the sofa with his bum turned to the television "not a care in the world"..He watched "Planet Earth"
earlier and the monkeys weren't much to his liking but .......
BOOFUS was very ill recently and life wasn't all that pleasant as he had no way of telling of his aches..
Over thousands of years, Boo's ancestors were domesticated by "humans". Tamed, he would be much amiss in his comfort, shelter and food- foraging capabilities.
I can only presume that Boo's long periods of contemplation are tranquil ... I know that if I were left to such introspection with a seeking mind, my "domestication" would be hellish if indeed sane at all.
My goals as a "human" are set on a higher plain ..aesthetic , emotional . under governance of reason ..I live in Faith, Hope, and Love.... Realization for me comes in a wider and deeper intelligence than Boo's
Boofus has his own parameters of integrity and I hope is a happy dog.
Happiness is both our goals only the goal posts are so different.

Looking at the Human Society, in the World Today, I think life in a kennel or as a truck dog or as a Race Dog or as a Station Sheep Dog or a Show Dog, even as a Blind Dog or a Guard Dog.
Would be a 'Hell of a Lot' more pleasant, then parts of the U.S.A, parts of the UK, parts of Russia or parts of Australia. Not to mention Zimbabwe, Pakistan, anywhere in Africa and certain parts of South American continent

I would like to have sex with whoever I want, when I want and where I want without all the privacy and monogamy taboos.
