Bill Clement and Gary Thorne were hockey, it's a shame ESPN dropped NHL coverage
Jim Hughson is pretty good, lot of emotion
Anaheim Ducks have the crappy announcers

First year with the Center Ice package so I am just getting to know all of the different guys from the different feeds.
I think Clement and Jones are great too Zam. Also find that Jim Hughson is really good (Vancouver usually).
The worst I have encountered yet was Columbus. Not sure of the names.

TSN's Pierre McGuire is by far the worst and the most annoying hockey announcer. I can't even tell you how many times he uses the word "physical" in a sentence.
I find CBC's announcers (not counting Don Cherry) to be the most professional but my favourite is Sportscentre's Dean Brown who does Sens games. The guy is so terrible he's hilarious. These are some of his quotes from RECENT games:
"There's a familiar face on New Jersey, number 27, Scott Neidermay....no...wait a second..."
"Ottawa forward Luc Robataille is playing a great game...no...wait a minute, he's retired."
"What an incredible save! Wow! I can't believe he got that one! That was highway robbery! Amazing!!!!....Oh...wait...it hit the post."

I feel your pain as far as the Philly announcers are concerned.
If Jones and Clement did the games, the games would be much more enjoyable to listen too.
Jim Jackson and Steve Coates are the biggest homers I have ever heard in over 25 years of watching and listening to games in several different parts of the country.
You could almost make a drinking game out of how many times Jackson says "and the refs choose to ignore that one" every time a Flyer is even touched during a game.

My all time favorites-
Rick Jenarette-Love how he says Scooooooooooooores!!!!!!!!!!!!! when the Sabres score. Sounds even better with the goal horn in the backround. Unfortunately I don't get to hear him call games often. LET'S GO BUFFALO!!
Mike Emrick-very unbiased even though he's a Devils guy. Love the way he calls games. Biiiiiiiiiiiig drive!
Fred Cusick- ex-Bruins play by play. Even though he's retired now, I still miss him. He was the best of all time IMO.
I do miss Darren Pang too. Hope he comes over to Versus with Barry Mulletrose eventually.
Worst- Dale Arnold, Boston Bruins. They didn't resign him last summer so he's no longer calling Bruins games, but I've never heard a play by play guy who was so home team biased in my life.

Bob Errey and Paul Steigerwalt. From Pittsburgh. So in the process the main cutting-edge Flyers Pens pastime Bryz makes an astonishing save and that they are announcing not something. %. is going to different side and Flower makes a meh save and that they turn s*** like it grew to become into astonishing. #BiggestHomersEver

Hahaha! I agree with the guy who said Dan Rusanowsky and Jaime Baker. That is really correct.
But I think Randy Hahn and Drew Remenda are the best. They crack jokes at random times during the games. The Edmonton Guys STINK! SAME WITH ANAHEIM! They don' even know what is going on. Once a guy scored and they thought that there was a penalty.

I have to say every one of the NY Rangers announcers are FANTASTIC! Even whey the opposing team is doing great you can just feel the excitement in their voice of seeing such great plays. Even when the NYR get scored on they sound almost like they are rooting for the other team.
The wrost. Think back to the Hartford Whalers. Remember their announcer? He sounded so depresed all the time, almost like reading the news or weather for Death Valley, AZ.

For me, I enjoy the game-calling skills of Mike Lange (obviously), Jim Hughson, Rick Jenarette, Ken Kal, and Nick Nickson. My least favorite? Definitely Chuck Kaiton! I swear, it seems as though the guy calls games in between bites of food. Either that, or he sounds depressed.
To the earlier poster: I think you were also referring to Kaiton during his "glory days" manning the mic for the Hartford Whalers.

I like Don Taylor doing the Canucks games and Bob Cole and Harry Neale for their hockey knowledge.
