Just try and make sure that at least once a day, every single day, you do something nice for someone else, that you might not usually have done. I'm not saying it has to be something major, just hold a door open, offer to help if they need it, something like that. I once knew a guy who got a letter once from a girl as he left school. He'd never spoken to this girl, but she was in his class but in a different year. All the note said was 'thanks for always smiling at me as you walked into class. It made me happy and brightened my day.'
Trust me, the smallest things can make the biggest differences. This isn't something you have to 'force yourself to do', but something that you can do without thinking. Make this year the year where you made people happy, and brightened their days.

Why wait for New Year's to better yourself? There are 364 other days in the year to set and achieve your goals. Every day, put in the effort to make this world a better, kinder place to live in. It could be anything from giving someone a smile, to recycling, to volunteering.

If you are a student, raise your GPA. If you are an adult, get into better shape. Or volunteer time to a charity you believe in...should be easy as there are plenty to go around. The most precious gift one can give is time.

try stopping your "other" bad habits....i.e. overeating, sleeping late at night or early at dawn, pitching in late at work, disobeying your parents, ignoring the beggars who would have use of your few cents, backbiting on your friends or your boss, being very indifferent to your neighbors or officemates.....the list is long for things we normally do not classify as bad habits but are indeed misdeeds we ought to for ourselves to stop doing....so go figure!
