What you are talking about is called a demolition derby. Older cars are used for this. Usually all glass is removed, and certain other safety modifications are done. After the event, the cars are usually sold for scrap!

Demolition Derbys still exist. They are usually held at fairgrounds and racetracks!

This has nothing to do with unsold vehicles!

My guess it's all the auction sites out there now selling parts, cars, any anything motor related.. Killed the average junkers daily routine of talkin to a buddy that has this or that part they need. "Sell it on e-bay is the way !" pretty lame if you ask me..
