Towards the end of pregnancy a lot of women find their underwear to be damp with sweat and vaginal discharge, which increases the further you get into pregnancy.

Your water breaking does not have to be a gush or a constant leak - a small tear in the bag can easily be sealed over if they baby's head is in just the right spot, so leakage might be intermittent, and it might be a slow trickle rather than a gush. It's not always as obvious as people think it is.

If you are worried, go to the hospital for an exam. A simple Amnisure test will determine if you're ruptured or not. If you are, it's important they find out, because if labor does not begin, the longer you are ruptured, the greater the risk for infection, and you'll need antibiotics, and you might want to consider induction if you're full term.

Good luck.

When water breaks it isn't always a big rush of fluid, you can confirm this with any Doctor.Sometimes if the sack has only a little tear it can trickle out very slowly for days. The best way to tell is the old fashioned "sniff test"Urine has a strong acidic smell while amniotic fluid smells sweet. If you are unsure you can go to the hospital, they can take swab of the fluid and tell you in about 20 minutes weather or not it is amniotic fluid. If you are too early in your pregnancy to give birth you may want to go to the hospital to make sure because once the water breaks labor will begin within 48 hours and there is also a possibility that with the sack broken, bacteria will be able to enter into the sac and cause an infection in he amniotic fluid.I know this because it happened to me with my first child and this is what I was told by my OB.If it smells like urine I wouldn't worry.A lot of women leak urine on a regular basis when they are pregnant because of the increasing pressure on the bladder.

when i went into labor with my first, i spent the first 2 1/2 hours thinking i was constipated. i thought the pressure from that was causing me to pee on myself. (not alot, just kinda tinkling a little.) my water had broke. it is not always that big gush. i was actually told in my childbirth classes that only about 20% of women have there water break where it is obvious like that. at the same time, just the other day i coughed and peed. :) you would definately check with your dr.

It is not always a gush. Sometimes it's a leak. Sometimes it doesn't break at all until birth. You will know it's time when you start feeling contractions. If it's close to birthing time, you might want to call your doctor. He will tell you if you need to be checked or not. He will probably tell you just to wait awhile until you have more symptoms.

okay... usually when your water breaks it is not a big gush like some people think... It is normally a slow trickle, and some people feel like they have wet their pants. Most women dont have their water break until they are already at the hospital.

Water breaking is a pop then a gush of water going down your legs.
You are probably leaking fluid so see your doctor!
they can test the liquid with a strip to see if its urine or Amniotic Fluid. good luck

sometimes when your water breaks it isnt a big gush, it depends on the person, for me it was a gush and a series of trickling... I would call your OBGYN and tell them, there is a test they can do on it to determine if it is amniotic fluid. Bring the panties with you (as wierd as that sounds) if they ask you to go to the hospital.

My doctor told me to put on dry underwear, and lay down for 20 minutes. When I got up if there was any sort of gush or liquid I was to go to the hospital.

It's possible that your water broke but if it was only a little maybe your baby is just sitting on your bladder.

In general when your water breaks it feels like you can stop peeing. At all. You would continue leaking.

Water breaking is not necessarily a big gush. It can be a trickling at will not stop.
Go see your OB to make sure.
When are you due?
