There is very little work for youngsters on Broadway and very little work for newcommers as well. However, if you are very good and also are attractive, you might be able to get an agent in NYC who could get you auditions. You need basic ballet, modern dance, jazz and tap. And you are late starting so get busy. Read the play, Career by Lawrence and Lee or rent the movie with Anthony Franciosa. It is a very real look at a fellow who wanted to be a Broadway actor and sacrificed nearly everything to do it, he finally became a star at about age 50. Broadway is the smallest employer of actors. Tough goal.

ballroom's handy. yeah you need jazz, ballet, and tap indefinitely. I would reccommend private lessons so you can move at your own pace instead of at a classes' place since I assume you have the money. And you'll have to practice a lot, of course.
Do not think solely of Broadway. And don't expect to achieve you goal in the next 10 years. It all depends on what kind of character type you are, but you'll most likely eitherg et work in your early 20s or later years (like 40s and 50s). But besides Broadway there's repertory theatre and touring companies

Ballet,Tap,and Modern Dance, for starters.. Your goal is very ambitious.. Not impossible, just improbable.. That is not to discourage, but to insert reality..Especially a Broadway career.. You are just starting, your young, that's in your favor.. You will be able to afford a few mistakes in your career, and still be able to succeed.. You should not limit yourself to just Broadway.. Try to do commercials on TV,and bit parts in movies.. Also don't be so fast to leave California so fast for New York.. Your in a place where you could advance your career, BEFORE going east..Plus your still at home , and therefore, expenses are at a minimum.. Also a plus.. Keep working hard , improve your dance qualifications , and I hope to see one of your Broadway plays in a few years with you as the LEAD!!! Good Luck!!! SOLOMON

some dance schools offer Broadway style dancing. i researched schools around my area for over a week and visited them and stood in on classes. it takes a lot of work to find the right class for you (and even harder to find a broadway class), but well worth it once you find it. break a leg and I hope to work with you on broadway once we both make it!

its so funny how people out here on the east coast are like screw broadway i'm going for hollywood, we all dream of it, because we've grown up with broadway.
but you're in LA(i'd kill to be you!) haha
i dont really have any advice for you except what i'm planning on doing is going to college out in LA(your case go to college out here in NYC) if your parents are pushing you into going to college(like mine) ask them if instead of going to college if you can go to nyfa.com
but if not move out to nyc, or jersey(because jersey would be cheaper and you still are sooo close to the city) and get an agent out here and go on auditions.
just keep sticking with your dream, i know you'll make it if you put your mind to it!

maybe you should look into a good college that would look good on a resume. say, like Julliard, and i know it's really hard to get into, i mean, REALLY HARD, but it gives you something to work to.
