Do they get the 10% back on the day of sentencing or do they get it back in the mail sometime after sentencing?

That's the cost of the bond that the bonds person put up for your friend's bail. I suggest that you get hold of your friend and ask him for the return of the money...if you don't get it within 24 hours....your friend wasn't much of a friend and all it cost you was?????

If it's in the state court system and you paid it to a bondsman, you get nothing back period. If it was in federal court and you paid the clerk of court, then you'll get it back after the court has entered a judgment in the case-- usually that's on the day of sentencing.

They don't get it back. The bail bondsman's fee for guaranteeing the full bond amount is 10%.
