Yes, as a police officer in the 60's I managed to talk around several attempted suicides .. but my biggest achievement was in convincing my eldest daughter not to marry the bloke she was going with .. he went to gaol shortly after for kidnapping .. I felt vindicated

Oh, dear, I have four children, ages 32 to 18, and I'm always stopping them from doing something crazy! Life for the young is all about "drama"!

A mentally ill patient attempting to set alight (with a disposable lighter) to the night nurses uniform (Back Hem) when she was busy issuing the medication.
I happened to walk past at the right moment ! It could have been quite nasty for the nurse.
I was running the shift that night, NOT a patient, I hasten to add!

I sat across from a friend with a pistol in his hand talking him out of using it. We were successful.
But I don't know if he was crazy or if I was.
I'm glad I did and have a truckload of admiration for men and women who do that on a regular basis. My hats off to you.

Yes, I stopped a neighbor from killing his wife and himself. I don't to this day know why I did it but I somehow knew that he wouldn't shot me. I simply stepped between them and asked him for the gun. He looked at me sort of stunned like and handed it over. I didn't fall apart until it was all over.

Yes, I stopped myself from doing something I knew I'd regret later. I was able to stop myself & think things through, then decided that he wasn't worth it. No man is!!!

Yes, I know someone who recently wanted to kill himself. Thank God, I was able to talk him out of it and he went to a doctor and got on an anti depressant and doesn't have those thoughts anymore.
