This is more of an observation than a question. I'm fairly new to the Answers community but I am really bothered by the atrocious grammar and spelling in some of these questions. I understand there are web abbreviations and people are used to chatting/texting but I can't tell you how many questions I skip because I can't figure out what the heck these people are saying. Anyone agree or am I just a cranky English Major?

While you are in y/a, you have to brace up your tolerance level over use/misuse of the fine language. I believe a good percentage of the participants hail from such nations where English is not their major language.You might be aware that quality of education has deteriorated in many countries. To some extent, laziness too is responsible for distortion of the language.
I face the same problem like you and have to skip many questions as I failed to understand them.

Some just really don't care for all that. It's the internet (not schhol or work).. type/text speak is common.. some of us had enough of "being in school" while we were in school and some have been out of school too long.. also not all of us have a teacher mentality to care about spell checking and some know English as a second or third language.. so yea I'm going with cranky English major....

As long as you can read it what's the big deal... let people look as stupid as they want because they will regardless of wants for them not too.. *sigh*
This sounds sarcastic in the end anyway D8 I should delete it but I won't. I'm not trying to be sarcastic though ^^;;

Yes, you are a cranky English major. Welcome to the Peoples Republic of Yahoo. Most participants are making an honest attempt to communicate with one another. I don't mind if they can't spell or parse correctly. If they could, they wouldn't need a smarty pants like me to offer them answers to questions.

I completely agree with you. It's annoying! It's not hard to press the 'Check Spelling' button! I understand if the grammar isn't good but their spelling should be understandable!

I agree, but sometimes people (like me) get lazy.
