I have had many jobs to provide for my kids when I was a single mom. Some of them were not pretty but it kept them fed and clothed. I always had more than 1 job too.

I was depressed for about a year, but I'm feeling MUCH better now! I was always a hard worker & competed with the guys in my job. Last year, I had to go out on disability. I am looking for something part-time I could do on the computer (that's not a scam) I have good days & bad days, so I would require a flexible schedule ......for example, give me a week to get a job done. If it's done before that, great!
I have been looking!

I think it's wonderful that your sister is able to do work and be productive from home. That is an excellent idea and it was good of you to suggest it. Thank You very much!
As far as how much pride does one have? That is a hard one to answer as I don't think of pride or an abundance of ego a good thing. We are all people on planet earth, and each of us has our own little world on it. There are times when life, for whatever reason, kicks your butt... all you can do is the best you can do in any given situation...
I would hesitate to judge anyone who is having a hard time. That is God's job not mine.

I'm sure that I've played the "poor me" game before, but I found nothing good really came of it. My house is not as clean as I want it, but that's my own fault... maybe yours too for asking questions! lol I know a few people who think that the world owes them everything and it's okay to cheat a bit to gain something. I'm not one of those. Now, I need to get to work on the laundry... or check out a few more vital questions!

I have a lot of pride, but didn't let it get in the way when I cleaned houses and a business to make extra money.
There's pride...there's self esteem...and then there are priorities. Money for the household was a priority.

I was in an abusive relationship for thirty years that destroyed whatever self-esteem I started out with-but I totally take responsiblity for the choices I make. I chose to enter the relationship and I chose to leave it. I choose to live frugally right now so that I can devote my time to school. I think if more people would take personal repsonsibilty we could focus our efforts on those that are truly unable to help themselves.

Way too much to ever accept public assistance if I was physically or mentally capable of getting by on my own. Kudos to your sister in law, I applaud her for being gutsy enough to do it.
There is a job, somewhere, for everybody willing to work. Just because it doesn't pay much doesn't mean someone can't do it and make their own way in the world. We all have to start somewhere, and being on assistance would make me feel useless and powerless, and that is something I would avoid at all costs.

I have enough confidence to have been accused of arrogance by less confident folk. My self- esteem is something I value enough to keep me from caring much what others think.
I generally mind my own business and tend my own affairs.

I think you can get yourself out of any hole, financial or personal that you want to. A few minutes of self-pity then on to solving the problem.

Good for your sister, now if all the insensitive people in the world would try to do the same we would have a great society!
