It's always seemed strange to me. The whole title is "The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire" and it represents an order of chivalry, how this applies to celebrities who do nothing other than their job seems odd, to say the least. If the recipitent does something extaordinary fair enough, but deserving doesn't seem to really mean that much, unless it's me just being mean spirited. Sacrifice and real effort is deserving.

I think people in the entertainment industry get the chance to receive enough awards
Things like the Pride of Britain awards should be what we focus on, not how much a 'celebrity' has contributed to society
