Yes...illegal! A lot of people do it cuz it's easy...free...and its impossible for these companies to stop everyone. My suggestion if you're gonna use these downloading programs is not to use the main ones such as Limewire, Morpheus, or Bearshare. Those are just an example. I use MP3 Rocket or Frostwire. If you want to look around for different programs go to Download.com and search for MP3 download or sharing. They're free to download there!

I have used a free version of Limewire. If it's illegal then I guess I'm in trouble too. One of the teenage sales people told me about Limewire when I bought an MP3 player for my grandson.

It depends on how you feel about the music and the artists. I put down enough for CDs that I figure I can download a song or two by my favorite artist once in a while. Also, if the artist is dead, who is really hurt, some suit in L.A.? Heck, downloading the Beatles hurts no one but Michael Jackson.

On the other hand, like I said, I still buy CDs, and I go to as many live shows as I can.

I do believe that is illegal and is something I have never done because as a writer I believe that they are entitled to their royalties or residuals. If the person is deceased he could still have the residuals set up to go to his family members or a family trust fund. If I really want something I can usually find it for sale online and I don't mind paying for it. There's no such thing as a free lunch.

There is a system in place for royalties, but downloads are not in it - therefore, it is illegal.

This all started because the RIAA forces CD prices too high.

It is because ur not paying for it. Everyone does it, but not many people get caught doing it.
